Atomic Waste

DENSE IDEA

PROXIMITY

The problems furthest away are often the hardest to see. Bring them closer.

A change in German law meant an additional 370 tons of atomic waste would be produced in a single year. The challenge wasn't understanding the number. It was feeling its significance. We turned an abstract national issue into a personal experience by inventing the DGEAA—the German Association of Ultimate Waste Disposal—a completely fabricated government agency with real authority, real letterhead, and one unforgettable proposition: every citizen could receive their personal share of Germany's nuclear waste, 4.5 grams, sealed in a stainless-steel box and delivered to their home.

When the idea becomes the story, media becomes optional.

WHY IT COMPOUNDS

Proximity creates understanding.

The campaign didn't ask people to imagine the problem. It placed a piece of it on their kitchen table. By making the issue tangible, the conversation shifted from statistics to personal responsibility.

The package introduced the idea.

Understanding became one of the campaign's greatest compounding assets.

THE EVIDENCE

  • 01Germany's most talked-about PR stunt of the year.
  • 02Created a fabricated government agency that felt more credible than the real institutions.
  • 03Transformed an abstract environmental issue into a personal experience.
  • 04Generated national conversation with virtually no paid media.
